San Jose Benefits (sanjosebenefits.com) is a free community resource. This page explains, in plain words, what information we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect:
- Checker answers. When you use the eligibility checker, your answers (ZIP code, household size, income range, situations, top need) are processed in your browser to show your results. If you ask us to email your guide, we receive those answers with your email address so we can build it.
- Email address. Only if you give it to us: for your guide, for alerts about a program or housing list, or for the newsletter. Each is a separate choice, and an email you type once is never demanded again.
- Form submissions. Contact, Submit a Program, and Apply for Me forms send us what you type in them.
- Basic analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages help people most. Analytics events from the checker are anonymous — no email address and no answers are attached.
What we never collect: We never ask for — and you should never send us — Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, or copies of ID or documents. We never ask about your immigration status. No program listed here needs those through us, and applying is always done by you at the official site.
What we do with it: Build and send your guide, send the alerts and newsletter you asked for, answer your messages, and review program submissions. We do NOT sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. Sponsors never see who used the checker or signed up for anything.
Email, plainly: Every newsletter and alert email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Unsubscribing never affects your guide or anything else.
Cookies: The site and Google Analytics use cookies to remember your language choice and count visits. You can block cookies in your browser; the checker and directory still work.
Questions or deletion: Email [email protected] and we’ll delete your information on request.
