Housing Program – Eviction and Tenant Legal Help

The Law Foundation’s Housing Program provides free legal advice and representation on housing-related matters to low-income families and individuals in Santa Clara County, including defending eviction lawsuits, housing discrimination and reasonable accommodation requests for people with disabilities, enforcing the San Jose Tenant Protection Ordinance, Housing Authority hearings, Section 8 and other low-income housing terminations and eligibility determinations, and advice about notices for repairs and bad conditions. The page also states the Law Foundation provides legal support for participants of the Homelessness Prevention System (HPS). A walk-in clinic assists tenants facing eviction who have an active eviction lawsuit, and an Eviction 101 Workshop is held at 1:00 p.m. every Thursday.
