Housing and Shelter Services
The South County Compassion Center (Gilroy Compassion Center) helps unhoused people in South County through intensive case management. Its case managers complete a VI-SPDAT vulnerability assessment that places clients in a queue for supportive housing that prioritizes those at highest risk; it provides referrals to the local Cold Weather Shelter Program in late fall and winter with case management during the stay, helps people with monthly income search and apply for housing that fits their needs and budget, and, as a certified partner with Housing Industry Fund (HIF), can provide funding for up-front rental costs such as a deposit and last month retainer.
