Two SSI Payments in October, None in November: Your November Money Arrives Friday, October 30

If you get SSI, October can look like a lucky month. Two deposits land in your account: one on Thursday, October 1, and another on Friday, October 30. It is not a bonus, and your benefits are not going up. The second deposit is your November payment arriving early — and it is the only SSI money you will get until December 1.

Why November’s payment comes in October

SSI is normally paid on the 1st of the month. This year, November 1 falls on a Sunday. When the 1st lands on a weekend or a federal holiday, the Social Security Administration pays on the business day before — in this case, Friday, October 30. Your benefit amount is the same. Your benefits are not being cut, reduced, or stopped. Only the date moved. (Source: the Social Security Administration’s official 2026 payment calendar.)

Your SSI dates for the rest of 2026

• Thursday, October 1 — your October payment

• Friday, October 30 — your November payment (early, because November 1 is a Sunday)

• November — no SSI deposit lands in November

• Tuesday, December 1 — your December payment

• Thursday, December 31 — your January 2027 payment (early, because January 1 is a holiday)

The trap: do not spend October 30 money twice

The most common problem with an early payment is treating it like extra money. If you spend the October 30 deposit in October, November still has rent, bills, and groceries — with no new SSI deposit coming. A simple plan that works:

1. When the October 30 deposit lands, move November’s rent and bill money aside right away — a separate account, or an envelope if you use cash.

2. Check any automatic payments set to come out around November 1. They will still come out on time, drawing on the money you just received.

3. Plan November’s food around the December 1 deposit. If the month runs short, free food help is close: see the food programs in our directory — many need no paperwork at all.

The 2026 federal SSI maximum is $994 a month for one person and $1,491 for an eligible couple. Most people receive less, because other income lowers the payment. California adds a state supplement on top for many people, so your amount may be higher.

If you also get Social Security

Some people receive both SSI and Social Security. If you started Social Security before May 1997, or you get both benefits, your Social Security payment still comes on the 3rd — Tuesday, November 3. For everyone else, November’s Wednesday payments are: born on the 1st–10th, Tuesday, November 10 (one day early, because Wednesday, November 11 is Veterans Day, a federal holiday); born on the 11th–20th, Wednesday, November 18; born on the 21st–31st, Wednesday, November 25.

If a payment does not show up

Check with your bank first. The Social Security Administration asks you to allow 3 extra mailing days before contacting them about a missing payment. Then call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778).
