Vote Centers Are Open in San Jose: 23 Locations Opened Today — Where to Vote Early in Santa Clara County Through Nov. 3

You do not have to wait until Election Day — and you do not have to vote at one assigned place. 23 vote centers opened across Santa Clara County today, Saturday, October 24, and any registered county voter can vote in person at any vote center, whichever is closest to home, work, or the bus stop. That matters if you work shifts, care for kids or parents, or use a wheelchair: pick the location and the hour that fits your life.

Vote center hours

  • Oct 24 – Nov 2: every day, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Election Day, Tuesday Nov 3: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  • About 90 more four-day vote centers open Saturday, Oct 31, so lines get shorter the closer it gets.

Named locations include the Provident Credit Union Event Center at San José State and Tully Branch Library. Hours can differ at a few locations (for example, the Milpitas Library center runs Oct 31 – Nov 2, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.), so check your nearest center in the county’s official finder before you go: vote.santaclaracounty.gov.

Voting by mail? Mind these dates

Every registered voter was mailed a ballot (mailing began the week of Oct 5).

  • Mailed back: it must be postmarked on or before Nov 3 AND received by Friday, Nov 6.
  • The Registrar recommends mailing at least 7 days early — by Oct 27. After that, use a drop box, a vote center, or the Registrar’s Office instead.
  • Returned in person: must be received by 8:00 p.m. on Nov 3.
  • Ballot never arrived or got ruined? The last day to request a replacement ballot by mail is Tuesday, Oct 27.

Missed the registration deadline?

The regular registration deadline (Oct 19) has passed. You can still register conditionally at the Registrar’s Office or at any vote center and vote in this election — ask at the door and they will walk you through it.
